Galvanizing is an electrochemical process in which a protective layer of zinc is applied to the metal. This improves the corrosion resistance and appearance of your production series.
Galvanizing begins by thoroughly cleaning the metal. This will eventually lead to better adhesion. Next, the object is immersed in a solution containing metal ions. By applying an electric current between the object and the solution, the metal ions are directed to the object and adhere to the surface. This results in a protective layer.
The most common materials that are galvanized are metals. Basically, you can galvanize most metals. However, the effectiveness and method vary depending on the base material and galvanizing metal. We would be happy to tell you more about the possibilities for your design.
Unlike painting or coating, galvanizing creates a metallic layer that is chemically bonded to the underlying surface (the base material). This provides additional long-term and therefore durable protection for your products.
